Waterfowl
Waterfowl & Grouse Hunting

Geese: Canada, Blues, Snows, Ross & Speckled-bellies - (Morning hunts)

Arrow Lake Lodge & Outfitters is located in "prairie pothole" & grain farming country, on the main North American Flyway. In addition to migrating Canadas, Blues, Snows, Ross and Speckled-bellies, large concentrations of Greater Canadas reside in our hunting area. The attraction is large grain fields of peas (a favorite), barley and wheat. Within the Canada goose population you will find several sub-species including Cacklers, to mid-size, to Greeters & Giant's. As the season progresses the smaller Canadas are the first to leave and then mid-sizes and so on.

Ruffed & Sharp-Tailed Grouse (while on waterfowl program)

Hunting Grouse at Arrow Lake Lodge & Outfitters is probably the easiest that I have found in my 21 years of booking hunting & fishing programs. I have tried Maine and Quebec and Saskatchewan for Grouse. While trying those places the difficulties were too much hunting pressure, not enough birds or the cover was so dense you would mainly count flushes instead of bagged birds.

Trophy White-tailed Deer Hunting

Arrow Lake Lodge & Outfitters is located on the southern slopes of Riding Mountain National Park. The Park is a no-hunting zone so game moves freely back and forth.
The area hunted is all private land, which is wooded with alfalfa fields south of the park transitioning into farmland as you continue further south.

Some of the bucks grow to a very old age because of this low pressure hunting area. Boone & Crocket ratings run in the 125 to 155 range with 160 or bigger possible. Eight to 10 points are taken frequently. Three hundred pound deer are not unusual. Generally our deer are larger than those in the lower 48 states. The horns on deer in this area tend to be thick and dark.

Black Bear Hunting

We are located four miles from Riding Mountain National Park and have some of the biggest black bear in all of North America. Hunting takes place on all private land, which is wooded with alfalfa fields. This area is south of the park transitioning into farmland as you continue further south.

In addition to the large size our black bears have a 43% color phase, which means you can harvest chocolate browns, blondes, & cinnamons with chocolate paws & ears

Since you will hunt over baits, which are set for rifle & archery hunting, it's not unusual to shoot a bear 300 to 400 pounds. A licensed guide will take you to & from your stand.

We offer both spring & fall hunts:
Spring hunts are from mid-May to the first week of June.
Fall hunts begin early September through the first week of October.

Our bear hunts are competitively priced at $2,500.00 plus 12% Canada Tax for 5-1/2 hunt days & 6 nights R/B.
